We designed Walking Circles as a public installation to facilitate the practice of meditative walking. The circular walking path, supported by continuous handrails, ensures the walking can be done with eyes closed, enhancing sensory and auditory perception.
Here, we also explore the social topic of trust in others around us. The installation’s simple layout was devised to include all ages, filling the gap between physical exercise and mental self-care, while opening up a field of interpretations, imaginative alternative uses and play.
We carefully considered the structural system to offer both a repetitive construction sequence and a challenging bespoke material research.
